When Art Meets Conservation

The Story Behind the New Health Pak x FLOX x Forest & Bird Mural

There are partnerships… and then there are partnerships that deserve to be painted three storeys high.

At Health Pak, supporting worthy causes has always been part of who we are. Through our long-standing partnership with Forest & Bird, we’ve proudly raised over $230,000.00 toward protecting New Zealand’s wildlife and natural environment.

But this time, we wanted to do something a little different.

Something impossible to ignore.

Something that celebrated not just conservation — but creativity, collaboration, and the uniquely New Zealand environment we’re all working to protect.

So we teamed up with legendary New Zealand artist Hayden Keys — better known as FLOX — to create a massive mural on the side of the Health Pak building.

And honestly?

Watching it come to life has been something pretty special.

More Than Just a Mural

FLOX’s work is instantly recognisable for its bold native birds, vibrant colours, and unmistakably Kiwi identity. Her art celebrates the flora and fauna that make Aotearoa unique — which made this collaboration feel like a natural fit alongside our partnership with Forest & Bird.

The mural is more than paint on concrete.

It’s a fairly large (3 stories high and almost 30 metres wide) public statement about the importance of protecting our environment.

It’s a celebration of New Zealand wildlife.

And it’s a reminder that businesses can — and should — use their platforms to create positive impact beyond simply selling products.

A Partnership Built on Purpose

For years, Health Pak customers have helped support environmental and community causes through everyday purchases. What started as a commitment to “do a little good where we can” has grown into partnerships that have now generated hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities and conservation initiatives.

Our relationship with Forest & Bird has been a huge part of that journey.

Their work protecting native ecosystems, birdlife, forests, and waterways aligns closely with the values we want Health Pak to stand for — sustainability, responsibility, and leaving things better than we found them.

This mural felt like the perfect way to bring that partnership to life visually.

Turning a Building Into a Canvas

Seeing a blank industrial wall transformed into a giant piece of public art has been incredible.

Day by day, the mural evolved — layers of colour, native imagery, and unmistakable FLOX style gradually taking shape until the entire building became something completely different.

What was once just another warehouse wall is now something people stop to look at.

And hopefully connect with.

Because art has a way of making people feel something in a way statistics and reports sometimes can’t.
